GOAL: The
goal of my action research project is to incorporate portable computing devices
(or PCD) into the everyday task of teaching and learning within a high school
classroom. By doing this I want to increase student engagement and in turn
increase the learning and understanding of the content.
Showing
the school and district that the these devices can be beneficial tools and not
just toys is a necessary extension of this project in order to get the rules
that ban these devices modified to some extent.

This looks like a very interesting study. My students use personal technology in the classroom. We have recently been using personal communication devices specifically in the past six weeks. This plan looks like it will provide you with a great deal of information. It is well thought out.
ReplyDeleteThe only suggestion I would make is to identify if the surveys you are using in the first semester of next year are student surveys. I believe that they most likely will be, but it would help the reader be certain if you identify who will be taking the surveys. I will really enjoy seeing what you discover in your study!
Hi Michael,
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious to see the results of your project. It really goes hand in hand with the work I'm doing with my school to implement Edmodo (a school-friendly social networking site) school-wide. The difference is that our school allows students to use their own technology (as of this year!), however it is the TEACHERS I have to convince! They are not sure if the value of the technology lives up to the inherent hassles of allowing students the freedom.
I hope your research will reflect the engagement I see when I walk into a classroom at my school where students have no excuse to not participate!
Good luck!
